Î÷¹ÏÊÓÆµ Announces Spring 2025 Living History Series Events

Fort Pierce, FL (February 20, 2025) – Î÷¹ÏÊÓÆµ’s Living History Series, directed by Professor David Yankwitt, announces its Spring 2025 program featuring four distinguished speakers exploring topics from local history to global politics. As part of this exceptional series, the program proudly includes a special presentation celebrating Martin County’s Centennial, featuring renowned local historian Sandra Thurlow, who will share the rich tapestry of stories that have shaped Martin County’s remarkable 100-year journey.

“From Factions to Parties: James Madison’s Insights and Modern Politics” 

Dr. David Purificato, Î÷¹ÏÊÓÆµ Professor of History, explores James Madison’s arguments in Federalist No. 10 and examines how his concerns about factions relate to the modern two-party system in the U.S.

Dr. Alex Shelby, Î÷¹ÏÊÓÆµ Professor of History, will explore how Vladimir Putin consolidated power, redefined the Russian state, and challenged the American world international order in the post-Cold War world.
